This past Saturday, I participated in a wiffle ball tournament. Wiffle ball is a sport that I played daily as a child. I still find it fun and nostalgic. I also credit it with me discovering the benefits of turmeric.

However, I am no longer a child and not nearly as active as I was back “in the day.”

Everyone has been there. We do something physically demanding and “find” muscles that we forgot about. It’s funny how these muscles like to remind us of their existence for days — sometimes weeks — as we get older.

Sunday was a rough day. I could barely pick up my right arm. My entire body was sore. I expected to be sore, but I didn’t really anticipate the extent of this soreness.

Everything became a challenge. Picking up my 1 year old son seemed like a monumental task. I found myself looking for alternatives to bending over or reaching above my head.

In the past, I would’ve popped a few ibuprofen and called it a day. I would’ve taken ibuprofen every 4 hours, for several days, with no regard to how it will affect me long term.

Today is no longer the past. We need to think about what we are putting into our bodies on a daily basis.

Instead of ibuprofen, I looked for a natural approach. I’ve heard a lot about turmeric, but never really gave it a shot.

    Man, I was missing out.

I’m not going to dive into the science behind the benefits of turmeric, but I will say it DOES help.

In fact, I’d venture to say that it helps FASTER to solve the problem vs masking it.

I was 100% pain free by Tuesday. That’s 2 days from not being able to pick up my arm. Insanity.

The thing is, I’d be willing to bet that ibuprofen would’ve done the job as well. BUT it would’ve taken time to heal itself and I would’ve been sore much longer. Not to mention, who knows what long term affects ibuprofen has on your gut?

I’ve linked below, and throughout this post, the turmeric I used and will forever be thankful for after “finding” long lost muscles.

I’d love to hear what you guys use turmeric for so I can fall deeper in love with this natural substance. Comment below, or shoot me an e-mail, and let me know!

As always, make sure you consult your doctor before trying anything new. I’m not a doctor, and only speak from my own personal experience.
